Having graduated from the University of Brighton in 2011 with a degree in English Language and then pursued a whirlwind career in B2B tech PR (it's sexier than it sounds), Leke decided to start writing unconventional, challenging and entertaining stories about the modern Black British experience. Why? Because they are not enough well-written stories about complex, funny and multifaceted Black British characters and Leke is on a mission to change that.
But this is not the first time Leke has been writing. In fact, he has been writing almost all his life.
Long before he started to realise he fancied girls ALOT or that he enjoyed a good night out, dancing to R'N'B and hip-hop till ungodly hours in the morning, upsetting his parents frequently, Leke knew he loved to write stories and poems. Even from young, his writing was varied - from epic yarns about heroes and villains to angst-ridden verses describing his experiences growing up as a Black British boy in London, unsure if he was ever "British enough" or "Nigerian enough."
His love affair with prose has lasted longer than all of his relationships during his teenage years combined (of which they weren't many, to be transparent).
His first novel, A Prophet Who Loved Her, will be released on October 2020.
